Frequently Asked Questions

Health Insurance is a financial safety net that covers medical and surgical expenses incurred during hospitalization. It protects your personal savings from rising healthcare costs by providing coverage for hospital room charges, doctor consultations, surgeries, ICU expenses, and pre- and post-hospitalization costs.

  • Individual Plan: Provides a dedicated sum insured for a single individual. The coverage limit belongs entirely to that person.

  • Family Floater Plan: Covers multiple family members (e.g., self, spouse, children) under a single policy with a shared sum insured. Any covered member can utilize the total pool amount as needed.

  • Transparent Comparison: Compare key features, premiums, network hospital lists, and claim settlement ratios across leading insurance providers in one place.

  • Customized Coverage Advice: Get personalized recommendations tailored to your family’s specific health requirements and budget.

  • Seamless Claims Assistance: Dedicated guidance during hospital admissions and claim settlements to ensure a hassle-free experience.

  • Zero Additional Service Fees: Consultative advice and platform services are provided at no extra cost to you.

A Cashless Hospital Network consists of hospitals partnered directly with your insurance company. When you receive treatment at a network hospital, the insurer pays the hospital bills directly, eliminating the need for you to pay out of pocket (except for non-payable expenses like registration fees or administrative charges).

  • Pre-Existing Disease: Any health condition, injury, or illness diagnosed or treated before purchasing the policy (such as diabetes or hypertension).

  • Waiting Period: A specific period (typically 1 to 4 years, depending on the plan) during which claims related to pre-existing conditions are not covered. Once the waiting period completes, full coverage applies.

Premiums paid toward health insurance policies qualify for tax deductions under Section 80D of the Income Tax Act:

  • Up to ₹25,000 annually for self, spouse, and dependent children.

  • Additional deduction up to ₹25,000 for parents below 60 years, or up to ₹50,000 if parents are senior citizens (aged 60 or above).

  • Cashless Claim: Handled directly between the network hospital and the insurance company via pre-authorization before or during admission.

  • Reimbursement Claim: Used when receiving treatment at a non-network hospital. You pay all medical bills out of pocket and submit original invoices, discharge summaries, and bills to the insurer for reimbursement later.

Yes. Under IRDAI guidelines, Health Insurance Portability allows you to transfer your existing policy to a new insurer while retaining accrued benefits, such as waiting period credits and cumulative bonuses, provided the transfer request is submitted at least 45 days before the policy renewal date.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicant: Individuals, families, senior citizens, and groups may be eligible.
  • Age: Minimum and maximum entry ages depend on the policy; many plans are available for children and adults.
  • Indian resident: Most retail health insurance policies are available to Indian residents, subject to insurer terms.
  • Medical history: The insurer may ask about existing illnesses, treatments, or previous medical conditions.
  • Medical examination: Depending on age, coverage amount, and medical history, a pre-policy medical check-up may be required.
  • Coverage: Individual, family floater, senior citizen, and other policy options may be available.
  • Premium: Premium can depend on age, coverage amount, location, medical history, and selected policy benefits.
  • Documents: Usually KYC documents, age/address proof, and medical information; additional documents may be requested by the insurer.
